Starting To Feel Like Fall

For the past couple nights we've been sleeping with the windows open and let me tell you...I've been sleeping well....it's been great. The mornings have had a slight chill in the air. I'm hoping this means that Fall isn't too far away. I'm so ready for it to be here. I'm truly a seasonal person, meaning that I change as the seasons do. I don't usually complain about the current season because I understand that it needs to take place on order for the other 3 to occur. Key word there is usually....in this case, I'm ready for summer to be over. Out of all seasons, I dislike summer the most. Even though I love to garden and can, I just can't stand the heat.

I'm ready for cool nights by the fire, soup, hot apple cider, cinnamon, scarves, sweaters, and most of all pumpkins. These are some of my favorite things and they all occur when Fall gets here. Plus my favorite holiday is in Fall....Thanksgiving. So there ya go. That's why I can't wait for Fall to get here.

As children, we would always visit the local pumpkin patch and apple orchard when autumn came. This was something I always looked forward to. I told myself that as soon as the baby is old enough we would start the pumpkin patch tradition. It would give me an excuse to act like a kid again...plus pumpkins are my all time favorite. They make me so happy. The Man hates when fall comes around because I could spend a fortune on pumpkins and I normally do.

As you can probably tell...I'm ready for it to come!!! I'm hoping that in the next couple of weeks it will.

Wonderful Sunday

I woke up this morning to these guys in the field!

A flock of wild turkey!!! There were 3 hens and about 10-12 chicks out there! It was so cool!

I then spent the rest of the day cleaning our bedroom! Talk about dusty...it was horrible. I some how made it through and decided to re-arrange in order to make it more accommodating for the baby, which meant moving this in.

My Grandfather made this cradle for me a couple years ago right when The Man and I got engaged. Isn't it beautiful?! Its made out of cherry. I can't wait to put the baby in it. The cool part is that it swings!!! So amazing. He also made us a matching potty chair which is just too cute! When I get a chance I'll post a picture of it. I know that corner looks a little bare right now but as soon as we find out what it is, I'm going to hang a mobile and stuff like that.

That has been my day thus far. The bedroom finally got done after about 5 hours of deep cleaning. It feels good to have one room checked off my list of things to clean. Now all I have to do is figure out what to cook for dinner. Maybe we'll order pizza.

Well that's all for today. Hope Ya'll had a great weekend and you have an even better week. Until next time, Ya'll be good!

Books and Hay

What is it about a bale of hay that puts a smile on my face? I don't know either but they do. Our fields got hayed yesterday and now we're surrounded by round bales. It's the quintessential country landscape....an open field full of hay bales.

I really look forward to this event, some how I find it relaxing to sit and watch the tractors. So that's what I did yesterday when I got in from work...sat and watched. I also lusted over the tractor but that's a different story.

I also joined a book club yesterday.... The Magnolia Book Club created by my lovely sister, Mabel. It's really.a great idea...she created a blog so that her friends that.live.out.of.state can still participate and those that live close but.have busy schedules can participate without the demands of a regular book club. Needless to say I.was in. You can check it out here.

The first book is "The Help" by Kathyrn Stockett. I've had this book on my wish list for a while now but just haven't gotten to buying it. Well, I will now. I'm really excited about the book club. Mabel has got lots of great ideas on how to make the books more interactive and how to make others more conscience readers. I admit that sometimes I fly through a book without ever really thinking about it. Well, Mabel is going to highlight aspects of the books so that one has to "think" about them. I can't wait to see what she comes up with. Either way it will be GREAT!!! I encourage anyone who is interested to follow along, it's open to all those who are interested.

I'm attempting to make dinner, do laundry, and blog at the same time and it's not working well. My pasta pot is boiling over as I type, so I'm going to say good-bye for today. Ya'll take care!!

New Week

The weekend was way too short even though I got quiet a bit done. Got some well needed laundry and cleaning done yesterday. Mother and Step-Dad came over to help us out with some things. The Man and Step-Dad were busy cutting down a tree....like we need more wood!!! Mother and I got some cleaning and about 2 weeks worth of laundry done. I also put up a months worth of laundry that had been sitting in the baskets! Terrible, I know, but now our bedroom is looking less like a Goodwill and more like a bedroom! Now if I can only get the rest of the house done!

Speaking of that, I made a wish list of things that I want to get done around the house before the baby come. I would like for the house to be in order that way I don't have to worry about it, not to mention I won't have the time anyways. There's a lot to get done...master bedroom, living room, sitting area in front of fireplace, where/how to move my studio....almost every room in the house! Fortunately I now exactly want I want to put/buy/make for each room so it's just a matter of doing it and having the time and money to do it. Basically I'm going to start in one room and move to the next.

I've found several websites and blogs that have given me really good ideas on a very tight budget. Let's face it, we need to save as much as possible but I really want my house looking good. I know that we'll be having a lot of company over once the little one gets here and I will want the house looking it's best. So, I'll be visiting Goodwill on a daily basis looking for the things that we need. I'm praying that I find everything I need on the cheap....it would be great to come in way below budget. I've also researched some ways to reuse/re purpose some of the things that we already have laying around...which is AWESOME!!!! I'm hoping to start next weekend...either way I'll let you know how it goes!!

I spent the whole day in the studio today working on Mable's Christmas presents...yes that's plural! I decided that I was going to make everything that I've been meaning to make her, which comes to 3 presents. Unfortunately she reads my blog so I can't reveal what they are. You'll have to wait til after Christmas. I've gotten started on 2 of the 3. The first is half way finished. I have to make a trip to my nearest JoAnn Fabric for the remainder of supplies. The second is about a quarter of the way through. This one is alot more tedious that the first so it's going to take some time. As for the third present, I'm still collecting supplies for it but as soon as I have everything I need, it will be done pretty quick. That's on top of all the other projects I'm working on, about 4. Needless to say I'm in over my head. Oh well!!! We'll see just how far I get.

I suppose I should put the computer down and keep working...cause I got a lot to do!!! Until next time....Ya'll make it a good one!

Feeling Punny

It hasn't been a good day. Didn't sleep well, stomach was upset and I think my sciatica is acting up. Then I woke up to find that my pants, the one's that are usually loose, were too tight to button!!!! Yep, it has finally hit. I've had a head ache for 4 days straight and Tylenol isn't helping!!! And to top it off I've got a bad case of heart burn and gas!!! Can I get more pregnant?! Don't answer that cause I know I can! It just all hit in one day and I wasn't prepared....especially for my pants not buttoning! I know, I know...I'll get over and it could be worse. Just feeling a bit sorry for myself.

We had a beekeepers meeting tonight but blew it off, even though we didn't NEED to. We should have gone so we could talk to our mentors about our queen issues. Alas, I was not feeling it after work, neither was The Man. He was busy tinkering on his Jeep. So I actually moved all the crap that's built up in the studio and started on Mable's Christmas present. I was trying to think out of the box but it just wasn't working. So I stuck with the first thing I was going to make. For Christmas this year my family is doing "Make It, Take It". This is how it works: Every one's name goes into a hat, you draw a name, and your gift to that person has to be home-made. Everyone in my family is creative in some form so it works out well. This way you don't have to worry about buying for everyone and everyone gets a really great, thoughtful, hand made gift!!! I drew Mable's name and have been debating on what to make since last Christmas! Oh well....at least I've got a couple months to work on it, along with all the other projects I've got going. I better find some serious energy in the next couple of weeks!

I think I'm going to head to bed early...it can't hurt. I hope ya'll are feeling better than I am. Tomorrow's Hump Day...praise the Lord!!! Ya'll make it a good one!

Presenting Baby

Today was one of the best days of my life!! I had my monthly baby doc appointment and got to see and hear my little one for the first time. Talk about emotional! First I heard the heart beat...which was cool. Then I had to get some genetic screening done which includes an ultrasound. This is a close up of Baby. I labeled the photo below so that you can see exactly where "things" are. I know there are people in my family, not naming any names(Mable), who wouldn't know up from down!!!

Unfortunately the Baby takes after The Man, once it gets comfy it won't move a muscle. It wouldn't move into the proper position for the test...I had a 2 hour long ultrasound!!! Needless to say I'll be heading back Friday morning to see if it decided to move. I'm praying! 2 hours with that thing rolling around your abdomen can be some what painful after a while. Luckily the doc printed off the photo, for my "troubles". LOL!!!! I could lay there all day and watch that little thing roll around inside me. You should have seen it....I would start laughing or talking and it would start kicking like crazy. Weird that you can't feel it even if you're seeing it.

I think its a boy...at least that was my gut reaction. Our "boy name" is Conrad Waltz after both of our grandfathers...and the first thing that popped in my head was "Hello, Conrad!" I'm probably wrong, I normally am, but hey...I don't really like calling it an "It".

I'm at a healthy 13 weeks now. I didn't gain a pound during my first trimester so I can expect to pile them on during the second! Everything looks normal!! Now we play the waiting game for the next 7 weeks until we get a second ultrasound. Then we get to find out if it is Conrad or if we'll have to start World War III deciding on a name for a girl!!! Only time will tell.

Well, it's been a long emotional day and unfortunately I have to go cook dinner. The Man is asking for spaghetti, his fav. Until next time...Ya'll behave!!!
